Cats’ enforcer Peter “Hillbilly” Hill cast aside the disappointment of not getting his name in the paper when he played an absolute blinder to lead the Cats’ Masters to a thrilling 1 point victory last Sunday.

The Cats jumped out of the blocks with Hill setting up goals for Jock Evans and Chumpy Edwards to give the Cats a solid quarter time lead, before Hill became the Rock of Gibraltar in the second quarter as he constantly repelled the Northerners and ensured that the Cats led at the main break.

The third quarter was just more of the Peter Hill show as he dominated centre half back with the highlight being a 75 metre pass to Golden Boots McPherson who goaled to keep the Cats in the lead.  However, Hill was almost upstaged by Terry “Fingers” Odea, whose mark of the year contender in the last line of defence was somewhat overshadowed by his ensuing kick into the behind post.

The Northerners looked home and hosed when they led by 5 points with only minutes remaining before a hopeful kick into the Cats’ forward 50 saw Peter “Hillbilly” Hill, who had sprinted from the last line of defence, take a courageous pack mark and then casually slot the winner as the siren sounded.

At his post match press conference, Coach Tank Harris likened Hill to Echo Favourite Anzac Netscher, who also once made the fatal mistake of highlighting a lack of press coverage.
